DE's Business Lab: Did you hire a criminal?

July 20, 2023
They may seem like perfect hires, but do any of your possible employees have a criminal record? There's a way for you to find this out to set your mind at ease.

When I tell David Harris, CEO of Prosperident, the good news about my new hires, he has a very sobering question for me—do they have criminal records? Of course not! They're sharp, outgoing, and have great resumés, right?

But what if I'm setting myself up to be embezzled because I hired someone without doing a thorough check on them? David has several steps dentists can take—and don't worry, they're not difficult or too time-consuming—before we hire someone to make sure they're who they say they are.

This starts with something as simple as asking for identification, including a government-issued ID and another form of ID. Check the person out on social media. You can tell a lot about someone from the company they keep. When you narrow down your search, conduct drug tests. Remember that we prescribe medications and they'll be around those meds.

Being thorough will set us up for success, not to be embezzled! Visit Prosperident for more information.
