Lone Star Technologies introduces MGP, said to be the first significant formula change in gutta percha in 60 years to improve obturation success. This new and patented formulation incorporates an iodoform that remains inert until it comes in contact with tissue fluids that activate the free iodine. This free iodine acts as an inhibiting agent against bacteria or viruses originating in the canal or from microleakage.

MGP gutta percha is FDA-approved and the iodoform in the cones is classified as tissue-tolerant. MGP is easier to condense and compact, and fits any obturation technique. Packaged in kits of six vials (102 cones), MGP is available in both color-coded ISO or conventional sizes. The conventional cones are shaped to fit the requirements of the increased taper technique.
