Pearls for Your Practice: TurboTemp EZ by Zest

Nov. 22, 2022
TurboTemp EZ is self-curing bis-acryl GMA composite material suitable for both short-term and long-term provisionals for any application. Here's what sets it apart from its competitors.

My wife is also a dentist, but we don’t practice together. She has a big practice about 12 miles west of my office. One thing that she does differently is same-day chairside CAD/CAM dentistry. She mills most of her indirect restorations chairside. She loves that thing. One of the biggest differences between same-day dentistry and the lab-driven dentistry I do is the need for a provisional. Any time I make a comment or a complaint about provisionals, she jokes around and pretends like she doesn’t know what a provisional is. For most of us, though, a provisional is a vital part of the restorative process. Finding the right provisional material can be a challenge. If you are looking for a go-to provisional material, TurboTemp EZ by Zest should be among the ones you try.

TurboTemp EZ is self-curing bis-acryl GMA composite material suitable for both short-term and long-term provisionals for any application, from the single tooth all the way to long-span bridges. This material is easy and convenient to use with its easy handling and fast-working times. TurboTemp EZ is also very strong, and it gets very strong very quickly.

The flexural strength of TurboTemp EZ is at the same level as its competitors at 24 hours; however, what sets it apart is its flexural strength at the 10-minute mark of setup. TurboTemp EZ is five times stronger than its competitors at that 10-minute mark. This is vital for the situations where we need to work occlusion quickly and not worry about breakage. For a single unit, I can usually make the occlusion work in an early soft phase by minimizing occlusal load on the provisional. But what about for multiunit and full-arch provisionals? We have all had a situation where we make a nice long-span provisional. Everything looks great…then we check occlusion, and we hear the dreaded CRUNCH! Because of how strong TurboTemp EZ is at that 10-minute point, I don’t worry about that at all. In addition to that big-time flexural strength, compressive strength and gloss hold up to the competitors.

There are six shade choices available for TurboTemp EZ: A1, A2, A3/A3.5, B1, C3, and bleach white. TurboTemp EZ is competitive in price with most other provisional materials, and is actually on the lower end of the price scale. TurboTemp EZ is a great choice for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with provisionals breaking.
