Pearls for Your Practice: Ion Cordless Water Flosser by Waterpik

June 20, 2022
Joshua Austin, DDS, MAGD, loves his Ion Cordless Water Flosser for a variety of reasons. Learn what they are (and why he thinks you would, too).

I am sort of a neat freak. I do not like stuff cluttering countertops. I’m always looking for things that have a minimal countertop footprint, both at my office and at home. I think this dates back to watching TV shows as a kid. There was never a messy kitchen countertop in Family Ties. Blanche from The Golden Girls didn’t have clutter on her bathroom vanity. Everything was neat and clean.

I want my house to look like that. Unfortunately, the number of appliances that need to be plugged in keeps going up and up—it’s a cord management nightmare! This is why I love the Ion Cordless Water Flosser from Waterpik.

The Ion Cordless Water Flosser is a rechargeable irrigator that not only eliminates a power cord, but also takes up 30% less countertop space. The “cordless” description comes from the rechargeable feature of the Ion. With its hefty lithium-ion battery, each charge can power the Ion Water Flosser for up to four weeks between charges! That means we don’t need to see that pesky power cord more than 12 times a year!

Despite its compact size, the Ion Water Flosser is not weaker. It offers full-size plaque cleaning performance and pressure. This pressure helps remove up to 99.9% of plaque from treated areas. This is important because we all know that many, many of our patients are not and will never be string flossers. Instead of just beating patients over the head with string floss, we should find alternatives for them. The Ion Cordless Water Flosser is an amazing device that gives your nonflossing patients a better choice for interproximal plaque control.

The Ion Cordless Water Flosser comes with six different tips. It also has 10 different pressure settings, so all patients can find a comfortable, effective setting. One tank of water will last for 90 seconds of water flossing time, meaning no midroutine refills! One other nice feature is the magnetic handle cradle, which keeps the tubing perfectly and neatly wound. That is a feature my OCD, cord-hating self loves!

As I mentioned, the Ion Cordless Water Flosser is perfect for people who don’t floss. It is also great for patients with ortho, bridges, implants, veneers, and hybrids—basically anyone who’s had high-value dentistry. This makes the Ion Cordless Water Flosser the perfect value add to your high-end cases. Water flossers’ ability to break up biofilm and remove plaque is already great. Add in the ease and clutterless features and the Ion Cordless Water Flosser is a double to the left centerfield gap!
