It may be a rhetorical question, but does anyone not know about the great product Renamel? Since you most likely do, you’ll be most pleased to know that Cosmedent now has Renamel Bulkfill in unit-dose compules in shades A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B-Zero, B1, C3, and D2. This composite packs nicely and is hard upon curing with some referring to it as the “amalgam of composite.”
This product was designed for one-step placement of up to 4 mm, and will therefore photocure to a depth of 4 mm in only 20 seconds with an LED light, or 40 seconds with a halogen light. It has a good working time so that you can place and contour before photocuring. As with Renamel, it is easily packed and sculpts beautifully without slumping. Furthermore, it polishes quite well to a very glossy, high shine (manufacturer recommends Enamelize) and it is radiopaque. This versatile bulk-fill composite can be used in direct posterior restorations and does not need a “cap” layer of composite over it. You can use it to replace cusps, as a base/liner under direct restorations, in primary teeth, and in class V cervical decay, root decay, or abfractions. A word of caution: do not use in the presence of eugenol, since that will impede the polymerization process. If you are using a bulk-fill restorative, then you must give due consideration to Renamel Bulkfill as a durable and esthetically pleasing choice.
