I have it—you want it! Panavia SA Cement Universal

Jan. 6, 2022
Dr. Howard Glazer reviews a promising new product or material to hit the dental industry. In this installment, learn more about Panavia SA Cement Universal from Kuraray.

The answer of when to use this cement is simple: Yes! Due to a proprietary LCSi monomer, Panavia SA Cement Universal can adhere to all materials, including glass ceramics, without a primer. That is because the primer (i.e., silane coupling agent) is built into paste. This self-adhesive cement can be used for composite resin, porcelain, and lithium disilicate, as well as zirconia, dentin, and enamel, since it also contains MDP.

Panavia SA Cement Universal can be hand-mixed (working time = two minutes), but it also comes with an automix tip (working time = two minutes), and I particularly like the endo tip when using it for posts. High bond strengths are possible (35–40+ MPa), and it is available in shades A2, white, and translucent. You can spot-cure for two to five seconds, and it fully cures in about five minutes. I generally initiate cleaning up any excess at the four-minute mark. Although it’s a self-adhesive, one-step cement, you can use this product with selective and total-etch techniques. Whether a crown, bridge, post, inlay/onlay, adhesive resin bridge (i.e., Maryland type), implant-supported crown, or even alloy bonding, Panavia SA Cement Universal may just be your answer.
