Are you frustrated with using plastic strips to restore a class III? Do you find them difficult to contour and place subgingivally? Do they invariably “slip” regardless of how you try to wedge them to hold in place? If so, then look no further than the new Fusion Anterior Matrix System by Garrison Dental Solutions. Just as Garrison was able to make using sectional matrixing easy with the Composi-Tight 3D System, they have now given us an easy matrix system for class III restorations as well as a wedging system.
To begin, this new system offers two sizes of very thin, firm-yet-flexible metal bands that easily slip into the sulcus causing no harm to the papilla and securely remain in place using the compatible wedges. The accompanying wedges come in four sizes and have been designed for easy placement alongside the interdental papilla. The curvature of the wedge controls you to control the amount of tooth separation to eliminate any “black triangles.” All together, this system is great for handling the simplest class III to the more difficult subgingival class III restorations since the bands are thinner than plastic strips and can slip deeper into the sulcus. Undoubtedly you will find that you can create better incisal-gingival and facial-lingual anatomy. There is a starter kit available, and I am certain that once you try these, you’ll be impressed by the ease of placement and success in completing a well-placed composite restoration.
