Agrees With Viewpoint; Dentists Do Have the Power

Dental Economics, by printing Dr. Gary Wiser`s Viewpoint,"Together We Stand, Divided We Fall" in the October issue, has shown once again why Dental Economics is one of the finest publications anywhere when it comes to business issues of concern to the practicing dentist.

Dental Economics, by printing Dr. Gary Wiser`s Viewpoint,"Together We Stand, Divided We Fall" in the October issue, has shown once again why Dental Economics is one of the finest publications anywhere when it comes to business issues of concern to the practicing dentist.

Dr. Wiser makes some very valid points. As dentists practicing independently of each other, we have no power to oppose the market forces being driven by the insurance industry. They have positioned themselves between us and the patient, putting us in a position from which we cannot compete.

We must become corporate if we are to compete with the insurance industry. California Dental Partners has been building such a corporation in California for well over a year, and is helping New York and other states as well. We believe what Dr. Wiser says. Dental professionals have the power; we just need to use it.

Dental Partners Companies hope to help dentists in each state establish their own equity insurance companies, operating on a fee-for-service basis. When this happens, dentists finally will be able to compete and do business in the same way as the corporations with which we compete.

Our hat`s off to Dr. Wiser and to Dental Economics!
